This post will deal with servicing and changing grommets on a Venco number 6 compact wheel or , to those Dr Who fans, a K9 wheel. Venco stopped making these in the mid 90’s at the stage when pottery had lost its charm. As a result they no longer make replacements for the motor and drivewheel . Grommets however are available. These are a great little wheel with a quality 1/4 hp motor, plenty of torque for most pottery making. I have also heard on the grapevine that Venco is seriously considering reintroducing this wheel. That would be great news because it would make the drive wheel and motor available again. Here is a 12minute video on how to go about it. Please excuse the quality of the video as I am doing it with a handheld mobile phone. If anyone has some decent video editing skills and has the time to help I would appreciate having this video fixed. I made it from about 10 short videos that I put together using iVideo app. The file size is about 700 mb and is a bit on the big side of things. Also some gaps where I have put the phone down to do stuff that needs fixing.

  1. Hey mate, this has been so helpful for me. I’m up in Katoomba and got a venco no 6 about a year ago. Just replaced all the grommets thanks to your video and she’s running so smooth! Appreciate all the advice throughout, particularly making grommets softer in hot water and taking heaps of pictures as I go, that saved me a few times.

You were wondering about the video size- uploading it to YouTube and just linking or embedding it on this page will mean the file size is much smaller and your page won’t have to host it anyway.
